Product Review: what’s the latest in hearing aid technology?
When it comes to choosing a hearing aid, the choice can be overwhelming.
Hearing aid manufacturers are constantly changing both the styling and technology that goes into their brand of hearing devices.
Of course, many of the improvements are welcome. Some of the most recent innovations have helped people overcome the problem of hearing in background noise and made it easy to connect their hearing aids to their Bluetooth devices (like their phone).
It helps to get some good advice
At the beginning of 2019, I reviewed a number of the latest hearing aid models.
The ‘front-runners’ in technology at the moment would be Marvel, Quattro and Evoke.
Phonak Audéo™ Marvel
I think many people would really benefit from wearing a Phonak Marvel hearing aid because of its connectivity to both Android and iPhone devices.
Plus, its remote fine adjustment feature makes it convenient for the wearer to request changes from their clinician in the comfort of their lounge room or workplace.
From my online research, other review websites are heavily favouring Marvel at the moment.

ReSound LiNX Quattro™
Resound LiNX Quattro was launched in August 2018. The company promoted the device as delivering ‘layers of sound’.
It also has a built-in lithium-ion rechargeable battery that “helps eliminate the need to change batteries, and provides a long battery life plus a quick recharge time.”
Its main feature is its considerable processing power (16bit V 24bit – sound sampling rate).

WIDEX EVOKE™
I think that the Widex Evoke is an ideal device for many people because of its SoundSense Learn feature. This enables wearers to make specific tweaks through an app which you can download easily onto your Apple device.
These changes can fine tune your listening experience to suit how you want to hear in particular environments. These settings can be ‘geo’ tagged and the device can recognise this environment next time.
Widex would have to be my pick – and at present, this is the product I would recommend often in my clinic.
